spring break 08

today was saturday in my head

i woke up ridiculously late and then went promptly to the frolf course.. if you dont know what frolf is, its about time for you to learn how to use wikipedia...

I always enjoy a solid game of frolf and today was no exception. There is just something about being out there with good friends tossing discs with scary animal names at chains.
It really isnt important who won in the overall grand scheme of things, but i won.

Then i came home and grilled out. Pork chops, chicken, sausage, and steak. We also ate shells and cheese and potato salad, i am telling you all this because it was one of the best meals i have had in a while..

----i miss call of duty----
(its not gonna play itself)

So now i sit on the brink of another spring break. This is always a great time and tomorrow will undoubtedly be a mix of laziness because i am so close to spring break and excitement and energy because i am so close to spring break. Its weird. The last day before spring break moves quickly and slowly all at the same time... I just want to be in florida where it is probably like 85 degrees.

unfortunately i have to spend my whole spring break reading (i say this but i will take my books home and the only reading i will do will be on the flight back to lynchburg.) "back to lynchburg" is a terrible clause.

I am tempted to make an entire blog about the show lost because i love it so much. Everyone is leaving soon and i will be here an extra day, i might blog for the entire day. Saturday blog day.

ahhh, today was a great day, happy spring breaking everyone.

sure i love technology..

but i saw this guy tonight at a coffee shop sitting across from a girl and he was on his phone for like 45 minutes. Why do we spend so much time always on the phone these days but never really acknowledging the people we come in to contact with. Why is it so weird to say hi to a stranger or ask someone you dont know how they are doing? We are so in touch yet so disconnected.

Becoming a minister of grace requires giving grace to the everyone we come in to contact with, not just the people in our "five"

Meditation Changes My Mind-Set

A discipline i have really been trying to develop is meditation and deep thought on a particular subject. I usually try to mull over a certain idea for a full day whenever i have some time alone and every time i pray throughout that day. It is amazing what it can do for your attitude and outlook. Oswald Chambers usually gives me a good idea at the start of the day (when i do this)

Here are a few things i have been thinking about lately.,

What does it mean that God loves me unconditionally?
Where do i get my self-worth from?
How well do i treat others? How are people perceiving the way that i treat them?
Myself as a minister of grace, on behalf of Christ.
What does it mean in my life that Christ lived the same human experience i have and now intercedes on my behalf. Hebrews 1-2

Let me know how it goes.

Thoughts?

Ive been spending a ton of time thinking about two thoughts lately.

1) What does it really mean to disciple someone?

2) "There is nothing you can do to make God love you more and
There is nothing you can do to cause God to love you less."
-what do you think about this? I am trying to really unpack it and i would love to hear what other people think about this.. do you agree with it? what does it mean in your life?

If anyone has any ideas or perspectives or quotes related to either of these i would love to hear, thanks.

A Convenient Blog

So this is my first blog. I feel trendy.

anyways, i read this article earlier today and i came up with a way to save the world, and it also occurred to me that news sites are trying to make things sound terrible because people wouldnt read it if it wasnt.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/electricvehiclescouldstrainwatersupplies

this article is all about how electric vehicles (supposedly part of the solution to global warming, at least according to celebrities that now teach me science during the oscars) might put a strain on water supplies... We are now concerned about running out of water on this "blue planet." good thing there is always enough oil to go around...

So as i read i thought of two ingenious ideas, that apparently did not occur to the author of the article.
1. The oceans. Last time i was in elementary school there were five. They have a pretty good deal of water.(there were also nine planets, but apparently pluto is too small, should the indian ocean be nervous?)
2. We can use all the water from the icebergs we are melting with our gas cars and keep the ocean levels down. EVERYONE wins. Not only do we get to drive water cars but we finally have something to do with all that new water we are creating.. Science will thank me one day.

anyways, i thought this whole situation is ironic. Does anyone else think its a really lame story? then again i bet more people on this earth who are scared of running out of water than people who will actually read this.....
